Selamat Datang, Welcome
My name is Robin Lois. I have roots in Suriname and Indonesia. My entire life, I have been navigating the layers of identity, family history and culture. It has been a journey of discovery, sometimes challenging and confronting, other times comforting and strengthening.
As an art therapist, I have walked alongside people who have experienced forced migration, including second-generation migration. Listening to their stories, witnessing their journeys, and sharing in their moments of expression has felt like traveling to both familiar and unfamiliar places. Through these encounters, I have learned about resilience, memories, cultures, and personal histories.
I created Sawah House as a space to gently reconnect with yourself, a place to slow down, turn inward, and explore what often remains unspoken.
Inspired by the essence of Asia, Sawah House is a sanctuary where art, systemic work, and ritual come together, offering space for reflection, healing, and creative expression. Exploring themes of belonging, displacement, memory, and resilience. Here, stories shaped by migration are welcomed and held tenderly.
